A message from your Head Pro – October 17, 2016

As our season is winding down and the likelihood that the club will not reopen for a few years due to the construction, I wanted to thank everyone for your support and friendship for me over the last 9 years. I’ve enjoyed my time here as your head pro and hope that I was able to make a difference in your game.

It’s been fun working with all of you, whether you’re a beginner or a member of our highly successful teams. As you know I get a real joy out of watching you as you try to improve your game. The most satisfying thing about my job is seeing someone learn something new and then trying it out on the court.

Many of you have asked me where I will be next season. At the moment, I’m not sure. I definitely will be back in Toronto. I will let everyone know when I know myself. I hope it will be at a place where you can come and join me.

I hope you all will continue playing and improving well into the future. I’ve played this game for over 40 years and I’m still finding new things to learn.

Thanks again and have a great winter.
Good Luck,

Kerry D. Mitchell

Lesson UpDate from Kerry Mitchell
Next sign up is Noon on July 26th

With the coming changes to the courts, the adult group program will be reduced significantly. In order to service as many people as I can I’m increasing the maximum number of group participants to 6 (from  4).  With that number the groups’ focus will be much more drill oriented.  I will also hand out in the class the contact information of the people on the waiting list so if a regular member of the class cannot make the class they can try and recoup the cost of that class by inviting a person on the waiting list to sub-in for them.

The next series of group lessons will start the week of August 8, and will be 8 weeks long running until the end of September. The cost per participant is reduced due to the greater number of participants.  The registration date and time will be July 26 at 12 noon.  Please mark your calendars.  The new classes are viewable on line now.  The class days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. There will not be any classes on the weekends due to the busy court schedule (house league, club tournaments, etc.).  Also, members will be limited to one class per evening.

 Thanks,
Kerry Mitchell

Dear Members,

Great news!! We open for our new season starting at the end of April. My staff and I would like to welcome back our returning members and also welcome those of you who are new to the club.

Our instructional programming begins April 25 with our Adult Clinic Program. Classes will be viewable on the club website April 1. The registration for those classes will begin Wednesday, April 13 @ 12 noon. Mark that date on your calendar because the classes go quickly, especially the weekday evening classes. Registration is done online through the club website. If you have questions on how to do it contact me ahead of the registration date. This season due to interest in beginning lessons I’ve increased the maximum number of participants in the beginning clinics to 6 persons. They are less expensive per person due to the larger group structure.

If group lessons aren’t your thing, we offer private and semi-private lessons. You’ll find the pricing on the website. To set up a private lesson contact me and we’ll get you started.

Starting May 2nd our junior program begins with our Spring After School Program. Recreational and advance programming is available. We will have weekday afternoon and Saturday morning classes. Our junior team will also begin at the end of April with the team tryouts, April 15th and 22nd at 5 pm. If your kids are interested in joining the team and competing against other clubs please let me know that you are coming to the one or both of the tryouts. Our junior team captain will be my assistant John Cairns. Check out the Junior Brochure on the website. You will also find the forms for our spring and summer junior programming there as well.

As you may have all heard we may be losing some courts to the construction in the park at the end of July. How this will affect the instructional programming is yet to be determined. I’ll keep everyone informed as more information becomes available to me.

My assistant John Cairns and myself are here to help you with all your tennis instructional needs. Feel free to contact either one of us if you have any questions. Or if you want to speak to me in person feel free to come by the club for a chat. I’m always available to talk when I’m not on the court.
