We are excited to welcome Ryan Chow as the Head Tennis Professional for the 2020 season. Ryan holds a Club Professional 3 and Coach 2 certification with Tennis Canada, in addition to a wheelchair tennis certification. He is excited to share these skills and is looking forward to developing, organizing, and managing the coaching programs at Sir Winston Churchill Park Tennis Club.

Ryan brings with him a wealth of experience and brings an integrated approach to help players develop. For the past 15 years, Ryan has worked with a wide range of levels from recreational to performance level players, captained junior intercounty/adult league teams and has been an integral part of numerous tennis clubs, nationally as well as internationally. He has toured with internationally ranked juniors and while under his supervision won an ITF event. Also, Ryan has helped local players with their annual plans for training periods and putting the building blocks to developing them into provincial and national level players. Several of these players are now competing or were competing for their respective universities in Canada and the US. Currently he spends his winters coaching at The Supreme Court working with the adult members, a select few progressive junior players, and ranked senior players.

Ryan most recently held the position as the Head Tennis Professional at Leaside Tennis Club (2012-2019). He has also worked with the Toronto Tennis Academy for the past 10 years, and in 2011-12 worked with the Ontario National Training Centre’s Under 8 and Under 9 program. Ryan has worked abroad and has held the positions as Head Tennis Professional at Yellowknife Tennis Club(administered all NWT programs for the Territories tennis plan), and Assistant Tennis Professional for the Wanaka Tennis Club in New Zealand.

As a player, Ryan competed on a tennis scholarship at Bloomsburg University in the US. During this time, Ryan helped his team earn a conference championships, reach the final 16 at the NCAA National Championships, and was named to the All-Conference Team in both singles and doubles. After college, Ryan traveled playing Professional Tennis on the Futures Circuit and was ranked on the ATP Tour. At the moment he enjoys helping the sport grow, developing future players, and playing for fun in the Mayfair Pro League. He spends far too much time consumed by the Leafs, is a home chef, and likes the outdoors.

In 2020, Ryan looks forward to being engaged with the club’s members in creating with them a positive, enjoyable, and successful experience. There will be a systematic pathway to help the long-term development of both the beginner and competitive player. Feel free to stop for a chat about tennis if you see him around the club house or reach out via email to discuss your tennis goals, program questions and to book a lesson or find the right pro for your game!
